Gamebreakers HS Boys

We've got a wide range of top performers this week in Boys HS Rugby - here are our Gamebreakers.

Jonah Tavai, Mira Costa

The Mustangs No. 8 scored three tries in the SoCal Varsity Red clash with St.John Bosco, a game that clinched 1st in the LA division for Mira Costa. Tavai has been at the center of Mira Costa's efforts all season, scoring tries in the open field, in mauls, and whenever they seem to be most needed.

Alec Kenda, St. Pius X

The St. Pius captain has led from the front as his team has engineered a strong start this season in Texas, including a win over well-regarded St. Thomas

Jackson Baere, Torrey Pines

The Falcons' flanker is a tireless worker around the field and their main goalkicker. He's been critical to Torrey Pines' success, as they enter the SoCal Varsity Red playoffs.

Harlie Muniz, Tucson Blackbirds

Muniz moved from flanker to prop and has been explosive in his new position, roaming the field creating havoc, and running the ball with alacrity. With Muniz taking names, the Blackbirds beat Ahwatukee this past weekend.

Ben Charles, San Pasqual

The nifty San Pasqual scrumhalf was the key conduit between breakdown and runners as his team worked out a tough SoCal Varsity White playoff win over Santiago.

Jonathan Rubin, Charlotte Tigers

Rubin, the team's No. 8 and captain, has scored in every game (all wins) the Tigers have played in so far, including last weekend's league opener against North Meck.

Graeme Tanaka, Wilson HS

Wilson also won a Varsity White playoff game in Southern California, and Tanaka unleashed his best performance of the year to lead Wilson San Marcos.

Joshua Kauvesi, Elsie Allen Lobos

The Lobos keep winning and thumped Pleasanton over the weekend. Kauvesi (pictured above) scored four tries in that game, including three in quick succession at the beginning of the second half to essentially decide the game.

Patrick Madden, University City

Madden helped keep things on an even keel with University City as they took a huge lead, and then almost lost that lead in the SoCal Varsity White playoff game with the San Clemente Tritons. In the end, Madden's late try sealed the game and the win.

Max Cordua, Katy Barbarians

In a crucial early matchup in Rugby Texas, Cordua scored four tries as Katy beat Cy-Fair. This was a fine return for Cordua, who suffered a serious broken leg in the Rocky Mountain Challenge all-star tournament last June.

Seleve Tuisalo'o, Los Alamitos

Tuisalo'o scored two tries as Los Al hammered La Jolla in a SoCal Varsity White playoff win.

Nico Gilli, La Costa Canyon

The LCC scrumhalf played a pivotal role in his team's 14-13 win over Torrey Pines and was named player of the game.

Benjamin Austin, Chapel Hill

The Highlanders No. 8 scored two tries in his team's win over North Raleigh.

George Niethammer, Jesuit Sacramento

The Marauders center was an attacking force for Jesuit as they held off a determined CK McClatchy 48-38.

Brandon Sanders, South Meck

South Meck is a relatively new team has continued to log victories and Sanders scored two tries in a 45-5 win over Berry Academy.

Sam Cormier, SFGG

The San Francisco Golden Gate hooker played an excellent game as SFGG shocked many in a 25-25 tie with Granite Bay.

Logan Neill, Brother Martin

Neill, playing center, scored two tries as Brother Martin logged a big win over the NOLA Barbarians in Louisiana Rugby action.
