Rogers Flood Leads Granite Bay
Granite Bay opened the team's NorCal Premier account with an impressive 50-8 defeat of Lamorinda Saturday.
The Grizzlies started quickly, with fullback Jon Rogers scoring three tries in the first half.
Rogers ended the game with 35 points all by himself - three tries, four conversions, and four penalty goals. Props Nick Abualnil and Doug Mitchell combined for perhaps the most photogenic try of the day. Abualnil got moving forward and passed out of contact to Mitchell, who then floated a perfect pass to Rogers on the gallop, and the fullback finished it off.
Wing Garet Ruffner, and the halfback combination of Gavin Janis and Desi Streater all touched down to round out the scoring, but in many ways it was the Jon Rogers show.
"The kid was one fire," said Granite Bay Head Coach Jason Divine. ""Overall the team played well and showed we are ready to improve."
