Atlantis Girls Set for LVI
The Atlantis All-Star program has named the 24 players to be part of its Girls U18/U16 teams for the Las Vegas Invitational.
This team will be part of the NAHS 7s elite-level HS 7s series, which will also include the NAI 7s in Salt Lake City, and other tournaments as the series grows.
Kevin Corley will be the Head Coach of the Atlantis HS Girls Elite. Currently the Assistant Coach for Life University Women’s Rugby program, Corley coached the Morris Lady Lions in 15s and and the NJ Blaze 7s and Rugby NJ high school select teams. Corley started playing flag rugby when he was 5 years old, continued through high school, college at St. Bonaventure and still plays. He has coached several Atlantis HS teams including the championship teams at Atlanta 7s, NY 7s in 2015, and the NAI 7s and NY 7s in 2016.
Josie Ziluca will be the Head Coach of the Open bracket Atlantis team. Ziluca started playing rugby at Longwood University in Virginia in 2011, where she also began playing with Northern Virginia Women's rugby during the summers. She moved to San Diego the summer of 2014 to train at the Olympic Training Center after completing tours with Atlantis to Fiji and Spain. Also in 2014 Josie joined the San Diego Surfers, the year they won the 7s national championship. She’s been with the Surfers 7s team ever since and also coaches High School rugby teams in the area. All together; Josie has been on 8 tours with the Atlantis women’s team.
Lisa Henrich wll be an assistant coach for the teams. She began playing rugby at Dartmouth College in 1989, where she won Ivy League Championships in 1991 and 1992. After college, Henrich continued at Gotham City (NYC), Philadelphia Women's Rugby Club, Niagara Rugby Club (Ontario, Canada) and helped start the Buffalo Women's Rugby team. She represented Atlantis at both Cape Fear 7s and NY 7s and is now the head coach of the Orchard Park Girls team that won the New York State High School Rugby Championship in 2015 and 2016, and Henrich also serves as the assistant coach for the WNY All Star team.
The Elite team will be the one participating in the NAHS Series. The full squad is here, not differentiated between Elite and Open:
