The Norwich University men's rugby team is now 2-0 in the New England CRC after beating Middlebury in 30-14 on Saturday.

The Cadets opened the game with 30 straight points and held on as Middlebury scored two tries in the final eight minutes. Norwich got two early tries from scrumhalf Tom St. Pierre, and flyhalf Keegan Frisk converted one try and added a penalty for a 15-0 lead.

In the second half, freshman prop Keyon McCloud-Holman, Frick, and wing Trevor Surratt all touched down tries, none of which were unconverted. Then, down a man due to a yellow card, they saw Middlebury score twice. But the win was enough, especially given their somewhat surprising 30-21 win over Rhode Island last week. URI, sparked by the athletic Thankgod Ugochukwu, and imposing lock Tyler Inkley, they certainly have some ability, and showed it this week with a dramatic 28-27 defeat of Vermont. Senior props Darryl Brooks and Zack Zeytoonjian, as well as junior flanker Kevin O'Brien, scored tries, while flyhalf Anthony Kennedy converted two and added three penalties for a further 13 points.

What that all means is that the NECRC is far from decided. Every team plays the other four twice, so revenge is certainly on the table for future games. New Hampshire, with a league bye this weekend, has its work cut out for it having lost big to UVM already, but you never know. Middlebury certainly could rebound, while Vermont and Rhode Island are not that far behind the big improver so far - Norwich.
