GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University has announced that Harry King II will assume the throne as men's rugby head coach.

King's playing career started at Ferris State University and was the spring board into playing for them for 2 seasons and also playing back home for the Cleveland Rovers 15's and 7's B-Side Team while learning the game.

After transferring to Central Michigan University to finish a physical education teaching degree King took on the roll of coaching the women program.   This program over a 2 year achieved a national championship qualification in 2001.  Also during this time he also participated in the Division III Men's National Championships playing for the Flint Rouges.

After leaving Michigan and taking on a job as an educator in North Carolina, Coach King developed a High School Boys/Girls and Middle School Boys Rugby program.  These programs brought success with a middle school rugby state championship, a high school south qualifier and a girl's state championship.  He also took part in coaching the University of Pembroke Men's Rugby program when it started.

King also took part in getting rugby athletes to the venues that led to 11 women selected for U17 South All Star Team, 4 women selected to the USA U17 Development Team, 4 boys Selected for the North Carolina U19/U17 All Star Teams and one selected to the U17 USA Eagles Team.
