Unionville Wins Big Early Game in Pa
Unionville launched themselves into the Goff Rugby Report single-school rankings after defeating two-time defending state champion Cumberland Valley.
Cumberland Valley went up 13-12, scoring a try with about eight minutes left in the match. Unionville answered back with their own try with two minutes left to make it 17-13, and that's how the game ended.
A tough, physical game with the forwards dominating play, the game was played in honor of the injured Max Camateros-Mann. The Unionville No. 8 sustained a torn ACL at the North Carolina Ruggerfest on March 6. He's the team leader, but is now unable to play.
Unionville got tries from sophomore hooker Joseph Hagen, senior prop Asger Hanson, and senior prop Thomas Mallon. Center Brandon Boon, back from playing for Atlantis in Las Vegas, added a conversion, while fullback and backs captain Chris Helle put in an inspirational defensive effort.
Next up for Unionville is North Bay out of Maryland.
