NAV Selects Chosen for Vegas
The National Athletic Village (NAV) has selected an all-star studded side for the Las Vegas Invitational U18 Varsity pool. The NAV Selects held tryouts in January and February in partnership with Tiger Rugby to identify talent in the Carolinas, California and Texas that were hungry to prove themselves as some of the best high school players in the country.
The team is made up of five players from North Carolina, five from South Carolina, one from Texas, and three from California. Korbin Miller and David Bortins have been to multiple High School All-American Camps, with Miller touring Europe with the HSAA JV team in 2014. Joseph Thatcher and Jackson Clark are both committed to play at Kuztown in the fall and Grant Weston at Clemson. Jonathan Cummins is one of the fastest players in the country with unofficial 4.4 speed. Daniel Covi brings 11 years of international experience from Italy and Luis Pichardo was part of the state team of Querétaro (México) and played at the Mexico national 7s championship earning third place.
The National Athletic Village is a 100 acre world class rugby facility in Southern Pines, NC. Phase 1 includes a 3000 grass seat stadium, 2 full rugby pitches, 2 practice fields, a 1 mile and 12 obstacle training course, and is committed to helping raise the quality of rugby in the United States.
