James Madison beats St. Joe's
James Madison upset St. Joseph’s 33-13 to secure a place in the Keystone Conference final on Sunday at Shippensburg University.
The game was much closer than the score might indicate, with St. Joe’s actually leading 13-12 with about 16 minutes to go. It was then that JMU went over for the go-ahead try.
“We’ve had some tough games this fall where we didn’t play well, such as Notre Dame College, and when we blew a lead against Pitt, it was good to win a tight game,” said JMU head Coach Mark Lambourne. “We shot ourselves in the foot too many times, and had too many errors. They put us under pressure. We’ve got a young team that’s still learning, but when we are clicking we’re pretty good.”
Prop Mo Katz remains a huge part of the JMU attack, scoring three tries, and flanker Nick Bruno was impressive also.
JMU now faces a rematch with Pitt on Sunday for the conference title. Pitt defeated Temple in the other semifinal.
