Men DII College Rankings Week #10
What a great weekend of DII playoffs and conference finales. We saw some thrilling games - Towson v Salisbury, UNC-W over Coastal Carolina, Winona over North Dakota State, Great Lakes, the WIIL finals, Tri State (article coming tonight) ... so many great matchups.
Here's how it all went down. While #6 Towson did beat #4 Salisbury 13-10, overall our rankings had a huge weekend. In the 26 games involving ranked teams, the higher-ranked team won 22. We'll take that, 22-4. Now, some of those wins were really, really close. But it's kind of fun when you have teams ranked right next to each other and the higher team wins by two or three points. We like, also, the WIIL playoffs where #2 beat #12 and #10 beat #13 and then #2 beat #10 and #12 beat #13. Perfect.
Rowan is the big mover here, as they conitnue to do exactly as asked. Old Dominion did enough to show us they belong higher up. UW-Lacrosse moves up based on results against teams that showed well in the WIIL playoffs. RPI and Bryant get bumps, too.
The playoffs start in earnest now. Based on the rankings and the brackets, we're probably looking at VMI or Salisbury in one semi spot, against Duluth, and Towson or Rowan fighting it out for the other spot against Whitewater. We'll stick with that.
