CWU Dominates NCRC 7s Again
Central Washington went 6-0 over the weekend to win the program's sixth-straight Northwest Collegiate Rugby Conference 7s championship.
CWU went 3-0 in pool play, giving up just two tries in those three games. Also going 3-0 on Day One was Washington State in Pool C, and, the shockers in Pool B, Gonzaga, which upset Oregon 33-17 in their opener, downed Western orgon 22-12, and then upset Western Washington 21-15.
In the Sunday quarterfinals, Central shut out oregon 33-0, Gonzaga edged Eastern Washington 19-12, and WSU and WWU both won by shutouts, over Boise State and Washington, respectively.
That set up the cup semifinals, with Central Washington again winning by shutout, 40-0 over Western Washington. Gonzaga continued their amazing run, defeating Washington State in sudden death overitme 15-10.
The dream ended in the final for Gonzaga, though, as CWU continued their dominace, winning 60-5.
Western Washington took the Plate with a 12-0 win over Washington State, while Boise State won the Bowl Final, and Washington the Shield Final over Oregon.
