Boulder, Colo. – USA Rugby has announced that the Starfire Sports complex in Tukwila, Wash., will be the venue for the 2014 USA Rugby Emirates Airline Men’s and Women’s Club 7s Championships August 9-10, 2014.
The event will be hosted by the Seattle Saracens, now an affiliate club of Saracens of London and previously known as Seattle OPSB Rugby. In 2013, Seattle tied the record for most Men’s Club 7s championship titles by earning its sixth championship.
Starfire Sports includes a 4,500-seat stadium and 11 outside fields, and is a world-class facility that houses the training headquarters of the Seattle Sounders Major League Soccer team. Located just minutes from the Seattle airport, the complex will include a beer garden, fan zone, and apparel sales. Additionally, the complex will host a youth jamboree and high school invitational tournament (Serevi Cup), both of which will be powered by Serevi Rugby.
The 2014 Club 7s Championship will be just the third time Seattle has hosted a championship rugby event (1999 Club 7s; 2012 Super League Final), and just the fifth time USA Rugby has brought a championship final to the Pacific Northwest. The Club 7s Championships were held in Ferndale, Wash. in 2006 and 2007.
All matches will be streamed live on USA Rugby TV, with further broadcast and commentator details to be available shortly. Tickets are available at $10 for a one-day pass or $15 for a two-day pass. Family four-packs are also available for $50 and include four two-day passes.
