The shakeup in the Ivy League continues as Brown, Dartmouth, and Harvard all won this weekend.

Dartmouth is still working on a bit of a rebuilding season - that doesn't mean the Big Green won't contend; it does mean that they won't roll over opponents in the same fashion. Their 41-19 (score corrected) scoreline over Cornell shows that. Brown secured their first Ivy League win after hiring longtime coach David LaFlamme as a paid coach. Brown has work to do, though. They beat Columbia 20-12 thanks to tries from John landers and Peter McHugh, and some snappy kicking from Alek Coben, but beating Columbia by eight points isn't the type of result to make the leaders nervous.

Meanwhile most are somewhat nervous of Yale, who surprised everyone last spring with a surge in the playoffs after a 2-5 regular season. They are expected to continue that good play, but they will be chasing the team of the hour, which is Harvard. With Mike Diamantopoulos now coaching the 1st 15, the Crimson have started well, beating Brown 36-17 and, this past weekend, Penn 38-7. 

Diamantopoulos brings with him experience in a variety of levels of rugby, and has a very clear image of what he wants from a rugby team. The result is a more serious approach from the Harvard team. It doesn't hurt that they got a couple of players from the football team, a young player from Scotland, and South African Robbie Waddilove, who scored three tries on Saturday.

"We're putting in some systems, and we've been a bit lucky that we've added some new players," said Diamantopoulos. "And the good thing is, we're talking about fresmen and sophomores. It's a young team, but we're making progress."

Watch out also for prop Chris Bruno, who has been a big part of the Harvard imporvement.

In the next few weeks, we'll see some games that will tell us all how the contenders will fare. Next weekend, Yale visits Dartmouth in a big game. And then Harvard at Cornell on October 31 and Harvard at Dartmouth two weeks later should also be dates to circle.
