There are plenty of changes to the women’s DII college conferences this year, the full extent of which can be viewed here.

The women’s side of NSCRO has grown 25 percent since last fall, and conferences have either adopted hybrid leagues or seen teams leave DII for the small-college competition. Allegheny, Capital, Great Waters, Northern Lights, Rugby Northeast, and Tri-State are varying degrees of hybrid leagues.

The entire Excelsior conference (including fall championship participant Colgate) moved to NSCRO, which also saw a new Ohio league (including fall championship participant Denison) added to its ranks. Texas’ Lonestar conference previously existed as a friendly league, where teams could play a mixture of 7s, 10s, or 15s, but has now become an official member of NSCRO.

The Great Lakes conference absorbed a handful of Chicago-area teams, and then split into two pools to accommodate the numbers. The South Independent shut down its Division I once the Florida teams left, and Tennessee and Georgia Tech dropped down to DII. The league split into three pools once newcomers Arkansas State, Tulane, and Louisiana State signed on. Lee University is playing within SIRC but is NSCRO.

Conferences that contest their league seasons in the spring reflect last season’s alignment. The only update there is in SoCal. Reigning champion CSU Northridge has been upgraded to DI and will compete in the Pacific Mountain Rugby Conference’s South pool.
