The USA Rugby South A team finally got on the field at the NACRA U19 Championships with a 24-0 shutout of Bermuda.
After some early jitters, the South team dealt with the big, physical Bermuda team. Flanker Brennan Falcon led from the front and inspired the senior South players to front up.
Jeffery Rein, who will attend Furman University this fall, was player of the game with two tries, including the opener, a quick-tap after a Bermuda scrum infraction.
That was the only scoring of the first half, but early in the second half the South doubled their advantage when No. 8 John Williams went on a break and, after the ball was recycled, hooker Cameron Tibbits went after slotting in the backline.
South scored their third try after a long period of pressure, with cener Josh Inglis pushed over by the forwards.
Rein capped it all with a snipe up the weakside that went a full 80 meters, breaking two tackles for the final try. Captain Dylan Boast from Arkansas State University converted the first two tries.
So USA Rugby South A is in to the NACRA U19 semis, and they join Trinidad & Tobago, who beat Cayman Islands 47-5 on Sunday in Orlando.
