Here's our latest list of players who made a difference for their teams this past weekend.

Hayden Warneke, Kent, Wash.

The Kent Crusaders hooker led his team to a wild 41-35 victory over Budd Bay. A leader in the breakdown and an accurate lineout thrower, Warneke also unleashed some nice open-field running and passing skills as he helped put his team in playoff position.

​Keanu Andrade, Danville, Calif.

A previous Goff Rugby Report Player of the Week, Andrade is a versatile athlete who makes things happen. His service to the backs, defense, and several key runs put the Oaks into the Northern California HS club final.

 

Harry Stevens, Penn HS, Ind.

It’s about the stats for Stevens as he scored three tries and converted not only those three, but two others - good for a total of 25 points - as Penn HS beat Notre Dame de La Salette 38-24.

 

Kevin Ndou, Pelham, NY

A repeat name on this feature, Ndou stepped up the scoring in the absence of one of Pelham’s captains and another starter. In his team’s 61-27 defeat of St. Anthony’s, Ndou scored six tries.

 

Devarius Miller, Riviera Beach Maritime Academy, Fla.

RBMA might have lost 37-34 in the Florida playoffs, but Miller, a junior, was a major threat for his team. His speed and ability to make tacklers miss forced a tactical change by Orlando.

 

Nicholas Montreuil, St. Paul’s, La.

No pressure. The young freshman was given the unenviable task of kicking a penalty to clinch the Deep South HS championship. The game ended 10-10 and overtime didn’t change that. As much as everyone hates having penalty kicks decide a game, but there is a limit to game length in age-grade rugby. And it’s certainly dramatic. Montreuil got some encouragement from his teammates (see photo) and slotted the goal to put St. Paul’s over Archbishop Shaw.

 

Ofa Maafu, Red Mountain, Ariz.

In Red Mountain’s 47-19 victory over Scottsdale in the Arizona state final, Maafu was a physical force. The No. 8 combined with his younger brother Nafi to get his team’s offense on the front foot.

 

Daniel Callahan, Gonzaga, DC.

A scrappy scrumhalf, Callahan has made a habit of punishing defenses a little too worried about the outer channels, and scampering through tiny gaps for tries. He burned Xavier for a try this past weekend.

 

Josh Inglis, Lassiter Trojans, Ga.

Inglis scored two tries for the Trojans as they defeated the Norsemen to make the Georgia state final. A versatile player who is able to play anywhere in the backline, Inglis is effective at inside center not only as a runner and tackler, but as a second playmaker/flyhalf.

 

Sione Bloomfield, Herriman, Utah

It was all about defense as Herriman beat East HS. Bloomfield laid in some bone-shuddering hits all day.

 

Drew Schlegel, Regis Jesuit, Colo.

The Regis Jesuit center is relatively new to the game but has picked it up very well. His performance was part of a strong backline defensive effort (the Regis backbone 10-14 are all linebackers for the school football team), that sealed a 12-7 win over Aurora.
