HANCO GERMISHUYS
Born in South Africa but growing up in Nebraska, Germishuys wasn't on one of the high-profile HS programs, but he has a profile all on his own. Germishuys was a massive part of the HSAA effort in winning the LVI 7s in Las Vegas, and he continued that play at the Youth Olympics.
He was injured on the HSAA 15s tour of South America, a big blow to the team, but was good enough to be one of the youngest players on the U20 team that finished 3rd at the Junior World Rugby Trophy. At 17 he was a man among boys. Physical, able to cover the field, and skilled, the flanker is now in the Gloucester Academy, and is poised to be a professional rugby player.
All that and he filled the gaps by working on his dad's roofing business. Germishuys is the real deal, and we will be hearing more about him in the near future.
Still, there were some other players who were close in consideration. Vili Heu and Steve Branham deserved a look also.
