DI Men College Weekend Preview

It’s a nicely busy weekend in DI Men’s College Rugby.

Here's a look at the games, with links to more.

The SCRC kicks off in the South with:
Florida at Auburn
LSU at Georgia
Mississippi State at Ole Miss

Until further notice, LSU is the team to beat. See more here

In the Southwest, the SWC opens with a pre-season tournament.

In the Northeast, everyone’s playing rugby. Rugby East starts with one game - Buffalo at Kutztown - while the most compelling non-conference game should be Iona v St. Bonaventure, although, West Virginia against Wheeling Jesuit is certainly worth a look as an in-state rivalry game. Or ... there's always Penn State against Davenport.

Among the Big Ten teams, Indiana takes on Kentucky, an up-and-coming SCRC team, and Michigan plays their old boys. Bowling Green takes on Ohio State.

The ECRC begins with three matches, as Northeastern visits AIC, last year’s #2 team, and Albany visits defending champions Middlebury. UMass is at Boston College.

The Empire Conference opens with three games:
Binghamton at Fordham
Stony Brook at Colgate
US Merchant Marina Academy (Kings Point) at SUNY Brockport

Stony Brook are the defending champions, while Brockport was just behind them.

In the Ivy League, Dartmouth is idle after their Granite Cup was, sadly, called off due to storms. Cornell clashes with Army in a non-conference game, and as far s in-conference games go, Brown visits Columbia, and Yale takes on Penn in Philadelphia.

And further south, Clemson starts its defense of its ACRL title against Virginia, and NC State takes on Wake Forest. In the SCRC, Mississippi State takes on Ole Miss on Sunday.

In the West, Air Force's game at Life has been cancelled as Air Force's flight to Atlanta was grounded or diverted. Colorado State faces Colorado College in a non-conference game, and Wyoming hosts their annual Jackalope Tournament, with the Cowboys and the Colorado Buffaloes headlining.

Oklahoma has a non-conference game against the OKC Crusaders. Lindenwood has an intriguing matchup against Palmer College of Chiropractic.
