Fairfield Prep concluded a tour to Northern California, playing two single-school teams in the process.

St. Ignatius of San Francisco re-assembled for the first game. Several of the single-school teams in Northern California move on to club play starting in March, but Ignatius hosted Fairfield and pulled off a 31-28 victory.

This was the second close loss in two games for Fairfield as they lost to Trumbull 31-29 last week.

"It was a very physical match with a program on the rise," said Fairfield Prep Head Coach Kevin Kery. "Good people and good rugby."

On Wednesday night the second match was Fairfield vs Jesuit of Sacramento. Jesuit was coming off a loss to SFGG in which the Marauders kept working their way into the SFGG 22 but couldn't score.

Jesuit started fast with two tries in the first 12 minutes. Fairfield came back with a penalty, but Jesuit went back on attack and crossed the line twice. They pinned Fairfield in their half with tactical kicking and created chances off their counterattack to take a commanding 29-3 lead.

Kery said his team continues to be up and down.

"Not our best performance definitely; were a little dinged up from so much rugby in this week and sleep-walked through much of the first half," said the Fairfield Prep Coach. "We picked it up for a little bit in the second half before completely running out of gas. They’re a quality program, and as we continue to build a lasting program teams like these are who we've got to play, but at least we showed a little more chutzpah than the last time we were out here."

Captain and flyhalf Jack Patock led Jesuit and scored two tries. Senior prop Tristan Mcloughlin scored a try, while senior wing Canon Davey scored two tries and added three conversions.

Final score was 48-3.

"Hats off to Fairfield for coming out on tour with two teams and playing two tough games in three day," said Jesuit Head Coach Andrew Acosta. "They suffered a few injuries, but battled. It was the game we needed to gauge ourselves against another single school team. We wish them well in their league play."
