Five from Frender Leads Marin over Elsie Allen
The Marin Highlanders opened their Northern California season with a fairly emphatic 54-5 win over Elsie Allen.
This wasn't an easy outing by any means but it was made a bit easier thanks to some impressive finishing from fullback Zach Frender.
From the 4th minute to the 50th minute, French was a terror, scoring five tries in that time span. He was impressive on the counter-attack, and also slotted in as a support runner, scoring three tries on the counter and two in other ways.
Before we get too excited about everything, remember this was a preseason matchup and included rolling subs, so it was just a warmup.
But, still Frender showed much in the way of talent, while wing Bear Lions added two tries; prop Miles Kelsey, No. 8 Josh Riley, and flanker Cooper Cannon also touched down.
Scrumhalf Sam Rodriguez slotted six conversions and his replacement, Gray Galicz, added another.
Next up for the Highlanders are the Danville Oaks on February 1. Elsie Allen has Granite Bay next.
