The first two Tier 1 games of the North Carolina school league ended with big wins for the favored teams.

NCYRU limits official listed winning margins to 35, so a 35-0 winning margin could well be larger in reality. But this allows teams to run on reserves once the result is not in doubt.

South Meck beat Clayton with the official score of 35-0 to start the season.

Prop Aiden Gallant was outstanding throughout the match, putting in a full shift.

He was able backed up by Quinn Miller, also a prop, and backs Jack Flemmings (center), Allen Giminich (scrumhalf), and Jackson Wilson (fullback).

Flanker Brody Evans came off the bench despite carrying an injury and scored almost immediately. He was impressive on defense, also.

Gallant started the scoring while Mac Howell added two. Flemmings and Miller also touched down, while Giminich was good for all five of his conversion attempts.

Mac Howell and hooker Henry Norman made their debuts for South Meck and showed well, with Norman hitting the rucks and Howell scoring twice.

Next up is for South Meck is Marvin Ridge, while Clayton (aka Corinth Holders) faces Hough.

Marvin Ridge started off strong as well with a 35-0 win over Ardrey Kell, officially, although Ardrey Kell did actually score some points.

Went great thanks - we won 35-0.

Junior center Aiden McLaughlin scored four tries while senior prop Emmanuel Jones gained valuable meters with his carries and beat several defenders.

Charlotte Catholic defeated Myers Park 35-0 on the weekend. It was a good start for a CC team that found wins hard to come by last year.

“Ot was a great start to the season for us with the boys fronting up both physically on defense and out wide on attack,” said Head Coach Jason Zhemke.

Captains Vince Keller and Finley Costello were excellent leaders for Charlotte Catholic while newcomers Lukas Lupinski and Keane Teeter made their debuts and both scored tries. Freshman Miles Caple was solid, also.

Myers Park players hard, led by flanker Brennan Macarelli and fullback Hank Stein.

Charlotte Catholic has a bye next week, while Myers Park faces Ardrey Kell.
