Men's D2 College Round of 16 Set After Play-Ins
The three play-ins in Men's D2 college are done and we have our final 16.
Georgetown put together one of their better performances of the season to beat New Hampshire 45-17 to move on.
Mankato traveled to Chicago to play University of Chicago and in a spirited game with plenty of hard hitting, Chicago was able to make some big plays count and come out on top 52-31.
Flanker Jack Allison scored three tries for UC while playing excellent defense, flyhalf Will Johnson added two and is starting to get more command of the attack. Scrumhalf and captain Pedro Casquinha added 15 points with the boot.
"At the beginning of the season we had a bunch of new guys; we put in a whole new game plan that they weren't used to," said Head Coach Michael de Waal. "We do have the right players to implement this game plan. They are starting to get it down and our attacking shape is coming together and they are good with ball in hand."
But it wasn't perfect.
"Mankato was very physical. Really good ball runners who were hard to bring down," added de Waal. "We definitely have to work on our defense."
It was a close call in the third play-in game as Salisbury edged Coastal Carolina 29-26.
