Ferndale, Wash. — The USA Women's Eagles 15s National Team are in the Pacific Northwest this week preparing for the WXV1, training at the deWilde Rugby & Polo Fields in Ferndale before moving north to Vancouver, BC to face off with England, France, and Ireland.

The camp at deWilde Fields started Monday and will culminate with a scrimmage Sunday with Canada.

The Eagles' visit marks another significant moment for Chuckanut Rugby Club and the deWilde Rugby & Polo Fields. It underscores the growing prominence of women's rugby in the United States and the Pacific Northwest region's commitment to supporting elite athletes.

“We’re beyond excited to welcome the USA Women's Eagles to our home pitch,” said Kellen Wiggins, President of Chuckanut Bay Rugby Club. “This camp is a unique chance for our community to see elite rugby up close and to celebrate the growth of the women’s game in the U.S. We hope the Eagles feel the full support of our region as they prepare for their upcoming international competition.”

The Eagles will be training throughout the week at deWilde Rugby & Polo Fields with a training session open to media at WCC Orca Fields in Bellingham on Saturday, where they will host an informal meet-and-greet at around 11am.

"We are very much looking forward to our time in Ferndale, with an opportunity to prepare and connect with the Pacific Northwest community," said Sione Fukofuka, Head Coach of the USA Women's Eagles Fifteens National Team. "We appreciate the support and look forward to a very valuable scrimmage against Canada, as we head into our WXV1 campaign."

In May 2024, deWilde hosted USA Rugby U20 Men’s Fifteens program ahead of their test matches versus Canada to qualify for the World Rugby Trophy competition. Providing a world class experience for the National Teams is a focus for deWilde and Chuckanut Bay Rugby looks forward to hosting more professional rugby training in the future.

Located in Ferndale, just ten miles north of Bellingham, WA, the deWilde Rugby & Polo Fields encompass 15 acres featuring two expansive, all-natural grass rugby pitches, generously donated by the deWilde family.
