Divine Saviour Holy Angels of Wisconsin will face Eagle HS of Idaho in the girls single-school final Sunday at the Wisconsin Rugby Complex at Cottage Grove.

DSHA won 7-5 over Meridian of Idaho. This was a wild, back-and-forth game in which both teams had opportunities to score more tries, but defense were outstanding.

The difference? DSHA"s perimeter defense to keep Meridians' wings in check, and also two kicks—a conversion and a late penalty goal attempts by Meridian hit metal, The conversion attempts hit the crossbar and the penalty hit the upright.

With the penalty no Meridian players chased the kick, and so the redoubtable Melanie Sanchez (DSHA No. 8) recovered the ball and made sure nothing threatening happened.

The defense of Sonio Perkovich, Molly McGoward, Maria Hilbert, Madelein Savoie, Addison Josetti, and Ana Byrne made sure DSHA won a game that easily could have done either way.

Meanwhile, Eagle took control of their semifinal against a very good Columbia Central team. Eagle was powerful, fast, and clinical. More than any team this weekend, Eagle was able to convert on scoring chances inside the opposition 22.

They just put the pressure on and kept it going.
