GRR D1A Rankings 2023-24 Week 18
First off, just before the weekend, D1A released its Power Rankings for February.
Here they are:
We don't have Saint Mary's as high as Cal, but that could easily change now that we have the Gaels playing Central Washington this coming weekend. Both rankings had Arkansas State further down than Lindenwood but that was because of previous results. Really it seems like most, of not all, of the top 10 are essentially equal. ASU moves up to #2 at the moment but it's a shaky #2 given the Saint Mary's-vs-CWU game.
Lindenwood plays Life, as well, and Navy is out of their long winter break and they must be eager to get going. It's worth remembering that Navy won last year's D1A when they were still essentially a club team—the support was there but they hadn't done any serious recruiting. This year, then, they might be stronger.
Cal Poly moves up after a pretty competitive loss to a very good CWU side. As we've pointed out, they will be facing Saint Mary's and UCLA in March. Those are big games for them.
Texas A&M moves up after beating Texas, while CSULB moves into the Top 25. Long Beach gets there because Davis lost to UCSB, and while UCSB and Cal State Long Beach have similar results in the California Conference, Long Beach does a little better (and of course beat the Gauchos). A few other teams are knocking on that door, too.
