Hough Looks Impressive To Wrap 6-0 Regular Season
The Hough Husskies secured the #1 seed going into North Carolina's single-school Tier 1 semifinals after a comprehensive victory over Myers Park Friday night.
Officially the score reads 52-17 as winning margins are held at 35 points. Even so Hough blooded some young players. Prop Jacob Eroh was outstanding running in the open field, while No. 8 Kai Campbell had another very strong game both as an attacking threat and a defense.
Brothers Zach and Matt Colson worked very nicely, sharing the flyhalf and fullback positions, while centers Daveon Neubauer and Beyond Bambry worked well together as the center combination.
Ty Dube came on at wing and scored his first A-side try while also playing strong defense.
Hough worked in unity nicely and often scored after only a few phases. Zach Colson's kicking for space added an extra dimension (and he got a lot of distance on those kicks), but the x-factor was probably fitness.
As one observer noted to GRR, after scoring the players would run back to the center of the field and would look like they hadn't run much at all.
So with the result Hough plays Sun Valley in one semifinal and South Meck will play Marvin Ridge in the other, both next week.
