Aircraft Charter Solutions Girls Player of the Week - Lilly Durbin
It's been a bit of a Lilly Durbin summer, as the diminutive but brave Fallbrook fullback blasted through, around, and between defenders to fuel a Fallbrook NIT victory, and then did the same to help take Southern California to the recent Stars & Stripes game, where she was a star for the Stripes.
Durbin can run, we have seen that throughout the past few weeks. She accelerates quickly, sees the space, and is powerful enough in contact to break tackles.
But for the Stripes, her key contribution was defensive. Faced, on repeated occasions, with a much larger opponent barrelling down on her, Durbin, playing fullback, took her opponent to the ground. Technique, strength, and certainly a little bit of bravery, all were at play there.
So in the space of two months Durbin has emerged as a real talent at the high school, select side, and almost-national-team level. The big question is, at 15, can she get better? Young people grow differently. Will Durbin, as she gets taller, get stronger? Certainly. Might she also lose some of her speed? That's possible, and thus she (and any other players in a similar position) needs to keep developing her other skills. The ones she has are pretty good.
Lilly Durbin is our Aircraft Charter Solutions Player of the Month - Girls HS.
Below is a video interview we did with Durbin in June.
