NCR Men D2 Collegiate Bracket Finalized
NCR Men D2 Collegiate Bracket Finalized
After some delays and a little shuffling the NCR Men's Collegiate playoff brackets have been set.
D1, D1AA, and D2 playoffs will be held over the next few weeks, as will Small-College playoffs (which haven't been released), with the finals culminating in Houston over the weekend of December 10.
Pre-Round 1
Eight teams already know where they will play in the Round of 16. Fourteen teams will play games this coming weekend to decide who finishes up the bracket (yes, right, your math is correct; that doesn't add up—one of those November 12 games will have both teams in the Round of 16, jsut seeded differently.).
Montana State will play Mira Costa College in the first foray for a West Coast team into this sort of playoff. Auburn plays Memphis in a game that ws already schedule as the final for the SCRC.
Washington University plays Loyola in a clash of a Gateway top finisher (Central Missouri was actually the runners-up in that conference) and the #3 team from the Great Midwest.
Great Lakes winners Grand Valley State will play Mid-East champions Miami in a meeting of two teams from conferences that have struggled to get notice on the national stage.
Tri-State champs Marist will take on NEWCRC #3 Coast Guard. Cardinals winners Virginia will play MARC #2 Villanova.
And another in-conference game will be NC State vs UNC Charlotte, which is a makeup game from October 1 (Hurricane Ian postponement) that in the end decides who wins that conference. Both teams will be in the playoffs and it looks like the winner will play the winner of Virginia/Villanova.
Along with NC State and UNC Charlotte making the Round of 16 without a play-in, going straight into that round are:
Northern Lights winners MSU Mankato.
