D1 Men's College Rankings Week 10
D1 Men's College Rankings Week 10
Sometimes it is that simple.
You know how we roll. If Team A is ranked below Team B and beats Team B, we don't automatically put Team A in Team B's spot. Even if Team B is ranked #1. There are always other factors involved.
Except when there aren't. The thing about Navy beating Army was that it was always in the cards; heck, in 2021 Navy lost to Army by a try and Army went on to be National Champions. This year Navy went into the game with Army at 9-0. They had beaten everyone they had faced in the Rugby East.
So, yes, Navy beating Army puts Navy in at #1. How could it not?
What about Lindenwood? If Lindenwood beats Army this coming weekend could they be #1? Maybe. Chances are it will be difficult because Lindenwood's fall schedule, while busy, isn't especially robust. Does a win over Army and (maybe) Davenport overwhelm Navy's run?
And remember Navy plays St. Bonaventure this coming weekend. What if Navy wins? What if Navy loses?
Meanwhile, Davenport beat Life (!) and might have something to say about all of this. What if Navy loses to St. Bonaventure, Lindenwood beats Army, and then Davenport beats Lindenwood a week later?
Fun things to think about.
Also ...
A big move for Boise State after they beat Western Washington. We move Arkansas down due to a forfeit but it wasn't a forfeit borne out of indifference or rules-breaking, just sometimes the school makes it difficult to travel. We've become more of a Boston College believer and obviously NCR's DIAA playoffs will tell us a lot more about the relative strengths of the Liberty and MARC and MAC.
