Experienced Binghamton Starts Strong
Binghamton started off their season nicely with a 52-12 defeat of Cornell this past weekend and will look ahead to an interesting, new-look Liberty Conference season.
The Liberty Conference has split into two tiers now based mostly on status and school support. Binghamton, like the others in the Liberty DIAA-Club tier is a club team, not receiving significant school support.
This is a very experienced Binghamton side, with several 5th-year seniors anchoring key forward positions. And add in 2021-22 NCR All American flyhalf Mike Davitt and you have the backbone of an effective team.
Still, cautioned the coaches, there is plenty to work on. The key is they need those experienced players to bring along the youngsters.
This coming weekend Binghamton takes on a big, physical Syracuse team and will have some work to do to handle their defensive pressure.
The Liberty DIAA conference starts up on September 10 with five games: BC at Rhode Island, Yale at Tufts, Connecticut at UMass, Albant at Siena, and Binghamton at Stony Brook.
