Grizzlies U23s Impress in First Argentine Outing
The California Grizzlies Men's U23 touring side opened up their trip to Argentina with an emphatic win over Club Atlétivo Chascomús Friday.
Led by a strong showing in the forwards by lock and captain Rory Corr (UCLA), and with prop Joe Marchant (Saint Mary's) and Benji Rogers (Santa Clara) providing an injection of energy off the bench, The Grizzlies led 19-7 at halftime and blew the game apart to win 64-17.
Flanker Ronnie McElligot (Saint Mary's) was a grinder and a battler in the rucks and on defense. His fellow back row mate Ryan Chambers (UC Santa Barbara) scored two tries in the opening half, while Jack Marchant (Cal Poly) led a solid backline effort.
Along with the brace by Chambers, the Grizzlies got a try from hooker Gabe Mahuinga (BYU) in the first half and rolled after that.
