Tough Games and Road Trips Get Penn State Ready for R7CC
Penn State's journey to the R7CC has been an interesting one.
The Nittany Lions opted to join the Big 10 for the 7s season and while the travel was tough, it got them ready for what's ahead.
Penn State ended up taking 2nd overall in the Big Ten Sevens Series. During the spring they only lost five times—three times to series winners Indiana, and once each to Ohio State and Davenport.
But 19 tough 7s games in four tournaments was hugely important win or lose.
The buildup has been great," said Head Coach Justin Hundley. The Big Ten Sevens series was a great opportunity for the team to gain some confidence and work out the type of sevens we wanted to play."
And the distances they had to travel? Maybe not so troublesome, either.
"It got us ready for the long road trip," said Hundley. "The team ise excited for the opportunity to compete in the R7CC in Kennesaw and looking forward to the weekend."
Penn State takes on Arizona, Clemson, and Lindenwood in pool play, a pool that will provide no chance rest.
