As expected De La Salle and Granite Bay will battle for the Northern California Boys HS Premier championship next week.
De La Salle won convincingly over SFGG 40-10, putting aside an earlier 21-19 result against Golden Gate as the Spartans start to piece things together.
Granite Bay, meanwhile, hammered Mother Lode 69-11. Fullback Tomas Masi and prop Colege McCracken, both sophomores, led the Grizzlies' effort with strong performances. They made key yardage and played solid defense to see Granite Bay through.
In the Premier Bowl, Danville edged Marin 26-19 and that sets up a Danville-vs-Jesuit Bowl Final.
In D1, Gridley got by Sac PAL 36-24 while the San Mateo Wolverines bat Elsie Allen 59-7.
"They are really good," enthused Elsie Allen Head Coach Alan Petty.
San Mateo was led by massive front-rower Kemoatu Kefu, who runs well with the ball and was just too powerful to stop. He scored two tries. Outside center Mone Hokafonu scored two and Chris Tuiasosopo, with his shiftiness and pace, was a problem for the defense all day.
With the halfback combo of Isaiah Nemani and Ulysses Ioramo controlling the tempo the Wolverines just rolled.
