The opening 7s tournament among SCRC teams saw a bit of a surprise as D2 team Auburn came away champs.

Auburn lost a close game to South Carolina, but beat Alabama, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Alabama-Birmingham to win the tournament. Auburb was led by Joe Obrocki, their 15s flanker who has taken to 7s with aggression. With Faleniko Spino and Danny Helton putting in storng performances, Auburn has kick-started their 7s campaign nicely.

Auburn won the SCRC D2 15s conference in the fall and then best Montana State in the CRAA D2 challenge championship in December.
