DIAA-Level Men College Rankings Week 18
DIAA-Level Men College Rankings Week 18
The big question to deal with in these DIAA rankings is whether a team in the spring can work its way up to the Top 5, or even to #1.
Well we're here to tell you that yes, it can happen, and the Top 5 thing almost certainly will happen. Right now the most likely teams to accomplish that would be Western Washington, Florida State, and Fresno State. Cal State Long Beach? Yes, maybe, but they haven't played yet this winter/spring session.
It will also take some time. Each spring team is working against the totality of experience of the fall teams, so one or two or three results don't zoom you past Tennessee. You have to work your way up. (Having said that, if Western Washington had beaten Central Washington last week, we likely would have put them at #1, but that's about the only way to get there quickly when you play winter/spring—by beating a top DIA team.)
Still ... Fresno State beat their main rivals in the Pac West and beat them by a lot. Up 10 spots for you! Florida State has now emerged as numero uno, for the moment anyway, in Florida after beating Central Florida and beating them quite convincingly. FSU rises 14 spots.

(Addendum. We meant to have San Diego in here too but human error in sorting the teams left them out. We've fixed that. Our apologies.)
