Boys HS Club Rugby Rankings Week 4
Boys HS Club Rugby Rankings Week 4
In the middle of the rankings we did see some clashes between ranked teams—the Eastside Lions of Washington took a trip down to California and played two tough games, for example.
You know we are a big fan of these cross-border matches and we're seeing more and more teams schedule those. The rankings might have something to do with it, and certainly seeding at National Championships has something to do with it, but really the best reason is to just see where you are and try to get better. It's the challenge that teams should embrace.

So the upshot of Eastside's trip is they lost to a well-regarded SFGG team and just barely edged a well-regarded Marin team. Eastside moves up, SFGG stays put, and Marin drops down to be just below Eastside. Tidy. Jumping into the Top 50 is Snow Canyon, a team that at times has been ranked in our School Team ranking, but they confirmed with us they should be considered a club, and this weekend this club traveled to Arizona and beat Red Mountain on their home dirt. Boom! In you go, Snow Canyon, to #15.

Lots of movement within the Florida teams. Jacksonville lost to the Cape Pirates, but the real concern here is that the Hammerheads of Naples are now 0-3, and that throws their 15-5 loss to Jacksonville into a different light. Are the Wolverines starting shakily or are other teams moving past them? The Wolverines move down. Naples moves out entirely, Wellington and Cape move in for a tie at #50 as we wait to see next week (Wellington at Jax, Cape hosting Boca). Right now Okapi and Boca are drifting up (Okapi plays Naples next weekend) but there's still a lot of rugby to be played.
Vienna moves up seven spots after a solid opening weekend. They don't move as high as Snow Canyon because their opponent was ranked as highly.
