How LA 7s Is Getting Better: Food Options
The new-look LA 7s will have some changes after studying fan feedback.
One of the changes will be around food and drink options. There will be more lower-cost food options at the March 5-6 tournament. Tournament Director and Director of AEG Rugby Dan Lyle spoke to Goff Rugby Report about this, and said, in part, that there had always been lower-cost options; they just weren’t easy to find.

“They weren’t prevalent,” Lyle told GRR, “so we’re making sure they are.”
More availability of beer priced at $6 or $7 as opposed to $12 will make fans happy, and so will having the different varieties of food for sale at various areas around the stadium. “We’ve adding more family-oriented options and price sensitive options,” added Lyle. “We do know that people are there all day and we’re trying to make that work for everybody, especially kids.”
At the 2020 tournament there was a long line for meat pies, showing that the regional cuisine stands were very popular. That wasn’t just about price; it was about making a connection. Lyle said those options will be available in a second area within the stadium complex.
Fans who go to the LA 7s should also know that a lot of vendors will be looking to go cashless. Fans will be able to pay with apps or cards—there will be options to input cash at machines that give you a payment card in case you don’t normally use a card or payment app. There will also be an app that will help you buy concessions.
All of these changes are pretty normal at World Series tournaments. Elements of the fan experience at the US-based tournaments (as well as those around the world) has often changed from year to year; the fan festival in San Diego was moved and the fan festival and world food area was drastically changed in the early years of that event.

“We’re learning while we’re building,” said Lyle. “We’re looking at the flow, from ticket takes to beer to food to how you pay. We are learning more about the better customer service and how rugby plays out in the venue.”
