Men's DI College Gamebreakers This Week
As the pressure ramps up, so do the performances.
Here are our Men's DI College Gamebreakers for the weekend of October 23, 2021.
Billy Tenney, BYU
The Cougar prop put together a pretty complete performance against Colorado, throwing in in the lineout, lifting in the lineout when on defense, using himself as a decoy in the backline and passing off to others, and then, when it was on offer, charging into the Buffaloes’ defense. He scored a try on a big charging run and then through a maul as BYU beat Colorado 65-3.
Tyson Lucas, Arkansas
The Razorbacks flyhalf led the attack and scored three tries in 52-12 defeat of Missouri that sent his side to the conference playoffs.
Michael Amberg, Army
The West Point wing (photo below, West Point Athletics) scored the game-winning try late in a 24-17 defeat of Navy.
Nathan Feldman, Michigan
Feldman scored three tries in the Wolverines' crucial win over Purdue.
Seamus Brennan, UMW
The Mary Washington center helped anchor a strong backline performance, and scored a try, in UMW's win over Mount St. Mary's.
Joe Hamm, Syracuse
Hamm scored three tries in the Syracuse win over Nazareth.
Gavin Meagher, Texas A&M
Meagher led an excellent A&M forward effort against Oklahoma. The flanker put in a massive 80-minute performance that just didn’t stop.
Christopher Jensvold, Louisville
The Lousiville second row forward has a habit of scoring key tries and he was a force running with the ball against Ohio, causing defenses all kinds of problems..
Kyle Curry, Boise State
The Boise State scrumhalf and club president helped orchestrate a dominant 62-6 win over Washington State.
Owen McGuffin, Iowa State
A hard-running center scored a try and carried much of the go-forward load in place of the injured Wes Cummings. Then, in the second half, he moved to fullback and did just as well.
Campbell Van Rooyen, Queens University Charlotte
Van Rooyen scored three tries in a 35-3 defeat of Virginia Tech.
Connor Forrestal, Ohio State, and Daniel Musselman, Penn State
In a game Ohio State won 45-42, Musselman converted all six Penn State tries, with every kick crucial in such a close game, and Forrestal (pictured below, Alex Goff photo) was also perfect on his conversions, adding a penalty early in the second half that proved the difference. Under enormous pressure, neither player missed.
Michael Hand, Baylor
The Baylor flyhalf scored 20 points in a win over North Texas with five conversions and two tries. He also helped four other backs score.
Dan Ahern, Binghamton
We've mentioned Ahern before but he keeps coming back. The long-striding lock scored two massive tries in a win over Corland.
Bryce Stovell and Andrew Marshall AIC
These two sparked the scoring and the attack in two 50-plus wins over the weekend.
