Wisconsin Girls Playoff Matchups Set
The playoff matchups are set after the final week of games in the Wisconsin Girls HS league.
Catholic Memorial defeated Hamilton 26-24 in a game many expected to be tight. Despite Hamilton leading for most of the game and by as much as 12 early in the second half, CMH was able to claw back and slip ahead after a breakaway run with minutes remaining. Hamilton’s last play drive ended just short of the tryline when CMH forced a knock on before Hamilton could punch in the go-ahead try.
Still, this was an indication of the increase in competitiveness in the state.
Green Bay defeated Madison 27-22, securing a semifinal spot. This game was a special event because the local minor league baseball team, the Green Bay Booyah, opened their venue up for a rugby game. Green Bay scored five tries and became the first new team in recent memory to earn three wins in their inaugural regular season. A young and relatively inexperienced group, Green Bay has been going from strength to strength.
Stevens Point defeated DSHA B 28-5 and in doing so set a team record of 136 points scored in the season.
And league-leaders DSHA defeated Kettle Moraine 70-0, leading the league in wins (4, tied with CMH), points scored (215), fewest points allowed (15), and (naturally) point differential (200).
