There are a couple of leagues and teams to keep an eye on.

In CIRA, Regis Jesuit is starting to make some moves, beating Monarch and then Valor Christian. Regis Head Coach Anthony Mattacchione said Valor has been very competitive despite not getting a win yet, and true they have not been blown out at all. Regis seems to go from strength to strength, and Mattacchione praises his coaching staff for a lot of that, with his wife, Kelli Mattacchione, and Ryan Maxfield, along with Riglie Reeves, Ethan Pougnet, Mose Timoteo, and Kurtis Werner all doing excellent work.

With Sam Storey, Eddie Maxfield, and David Dody leading the way Regis could be the class of CIRA. Although ... Mattacchione points out that Palmer is very strong, too.

"We have a good thing going," he said, referring not only to his own team, but the league as a whole.

But watch out also for the Rugby Indiana playoffs and the Super League league games that will also affect those playoffs>> 

Keep an eye also on De La Salle, which is going very well and beat Danville last week.

Coming off a 10-day quarantine and with Danville was coming off of a huge win over Jesuit, De La Salle was in for it. But flyhalf Mario Storti was very good, scoring an early try and kicking superbly. Flanker Brendan Regan scored a flanker's opportunistic try, and that set up a 14-0 lead. Danville's Dominic Besag and Jack Mullholland led a comeback but it wasn't enough. Big runs by JJ Tofaeone, Zion Jerge, and Grant Taft led to tries, and the DLS backline was very solid.

"All teams are still looking to scrape off the COVID rust but it was a nice reminder of how far the high school game has come in the last few years," said DLS Coach Derek Holmberg.
