Cathedral Catholic Look Solid at 2-0
The Cathedral Catholic Dons won two games in SCIRF action this weekend, defeating the Fallbrook Dragons.
On Saturday they met Fallbrook in a clash of two undefeated teams. In this one the Dons took control, winning 64-5.
Cathedral knocked on the initial kickoff giving the Dragons excellent field position for the first five minutes. The Dragons put pressure on the Dons defense but eventually Cathedral forced a turnover and marched down the field to set up captain Dylan Fortunes for a try. Marcus Terzoli converted to make it 7-0.
After a period of back and for the between the two sides, Cathedral’s back three of Ryan Bugg (1 try), Luk Otineru (two tries), and Nic Saldana were able to make long breaks throughout the game from the back of the scrums and rucks. This resulted in excellent field position for Cathedral throughout the rest of the game. The Dragons were able to take a quick lineout throw from the CC 20 to score in the corner in the second half, but with Fortunes scoring twice more and Terzoli notching a total of 17 points, Cathedral cruised.
Now 2-0 in SCIRF action and 2-0 in league play, Cathedral next meets St Augustine, also sitting at 2-0 after beating Mira Costa this weekend, in the 12th annual Rugby Holy Bowl.
