Gamebreakers in HS Rugby This Week
This week is upon us and it's time to give a nod to last week's top boys HS rugby players.
Tyran McCoy, Phoenix Alpharetta
The Phoenix wing was a constant threat on attack and scored a really well-taken try as Phoenix defeated South Greenville.
Sam Vallejos, Brother Martin
No. 8 and captain Vallejos scored three tries as Brother Martin exploded for 48 points and a convincing defeat of Louisiana rivals St. Paul's.
HS Games This Weekend: Much Rugby at Stake
Fielding Carlson, St. Ignatius
Playing scrumhalf for St. Ignatius, Carlson kept the Wildcats' offense humming in a win over St. Xavier. His high point may well have been when he box-kicked out of his team's 22, chased down the kick at midfield, tackled the catcher, poached the ball, and then took off all the way down the field to score.
Sam and Eli Neier, Royal Irish
Brothers at No. 8 and lock, led a ferocious forward attack as Royal Irish won big over St. Edward.
Zak Elgogari, Aspetuck
The center controlled field position in his team's win over Berks, was solid in open field and was excellent in his goalkicking for the Connecticut team.
Willie Leota, Genesis
The Genesis flyhalf was an imposing runner and passed well as he led Genesis to a massive win over Mountain Ridge.
Marcus Nguyen, South Orange County Raptors
Nguyen scored three tries as SOC defeated La Jolla 36-26.
