United Strong In Incomplete Utah Boys 7s Playoffs
United Strong In Incomplete Utah Boys 7s Playoffs
We don't know how it all shakes out but it's clear United is on a roll in the Utah Youth Rugby Boys HS 7s playoffs.
The splitting of Brighton and Copper Hills was good news for both, as the cohesion of players who are familiar with each other was evident.
Brighton pushed Mountain ridge in a 28-21 loss and beat United Bs 44-0, while Copper Hills beat Herriman Gold 24-0. They did lose to United, and United's 1st team certainly looked to be the strongest team of the day.
Bolstered by some additions from the United HS football team, and with Nick Lavulavu, Quinn Matua, Ofa Lomu, and Aidan Lewis all playing some really solid rugby, United is playing with a ton of confidence. Asa result, United won its quarterfinal 47-0 over Copper Hills and then cruised past Wasatch 52-0 to make the final.
Who United will face is to be determined. Herriman Red looked solid in a 55-0 defeat of United B, but their much-anticipated semifinal against Mountain Ridge was halted two minutes in with Herriman up 7-0, as lightning came close to the field and didn't go away. That game will likely be played next week before the final and 3rd-4th playoff.
