MAC Rugby Cancels Fall Season
The Mid-American Rugby Conference issued a statement today canceling it's fall conference games.
Here is the full statement:
(MAC Rugby) decided early Saturday to cancel all of its Fall 2020 conference games.
This was followed by the canceling of all varsity sports by the MAC conference office later that same day. W
hile there was some hope of having a brief 7’s season beginning in late October, that plan was scrapped when a couple schools were advised by their club sports directors not to plan anything for the remainder of 2020.
AcA of two head coaches (Mark Allen of Western Michigan and Joe Richards of IUPUI) and two student leaders (Brandon Biju of Univ. Pittsburgh and Kyle Sikora of Bowling Green) has been formed to plan a conference competition for spring 2021 that will combine both 15's & 7's. The MAC continues to plan for a postseason competition which would possibly include the Big 10, Southeastern Conference and Florida Conference also in spring 2021.
The Mid-AmericanConference was formed in 1973 as a loose association of collegiate club rugby programs that mirrored the MAC football conference and has sponsored a conference championship ever since.
