SCRC Adds Two Teams
SCRC Adds Two Teams
The Southeast Collegiate Rugby Conference has added two teams to its DIAA league.
Clemson will be moving from the DIA Mid-South to the SCRC. Clemson has struggled in the Mid-South and it's not hard to see who—the Tigers are the only team in the conference that is not a varsity or quasi-varsity program. While Clemson University is not an SEC team, the school's sports teams have an ongoing rivalry with some of those SEC teams, especially South Carolina.
Also joining the SCRC will be LSU. The LSU Tigers are an SEC school, but LSU has been playing in the DIA Red River Conference. LSU has struggled this past year and has run up against the issue a lot of college teams have run up against. As some club teams have started to receive a little more support on-campus or through alumni, others have still had to fight for it. LSU is definitely a club, and is joining the SCRC because it's a conference for club teams at like-minded universities.
So the SCRC lineup is this: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
The SCRC also runs a D2 division, which will include Auburn, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, and University of Mississippi.
