Two Wins for Navy
The US Naval Academy's Varsity Cup buildup got a nice shot in the arm with two wins over the weekend.
Navy took on the Glendale men's club, and won 40-17.
It was what Head Coach Mike Flanagan called "a really good defensive effort coming off a hard, focused week."
The Academy players improved their restarts from their recent loss to Penn State, and the Navy scrums were very solid.
Bo Kendrick-Holmes, Tre Fullilove, Connor McNerney, Brendan Ferrer-Green, and Mike Samaniego all scored tries and McNerney also kickd the points.
"It was a team win," said Flanagan. "The guys fronted up for each other all day. Glendale had pressure on us every time they had the ball. Defensively that came across hard and determined. We have work to do but this was a solid step forward."
Navy then took on Clemson where both teams played younger players. Joe Guthman and Mike Galvan scored tries while McNerney kicked a conversion and a penalty in a 15-10 Navy win.
