Towson University Switches Conferences
Towson University will be joining the MARC in the fall of 2019 and competing in the MARC's D1AA division.
Towson was for years an accomplished DII team until it combined with other DII, DI, and NSCRO teams to form the Chesapeake Conference three years ago. The Chesapeake was a huge success, but meanwhile, the MARC has been moving a bit further South in the teams that compete.
Located just outside Baltimore, Md., Towson sort of fits in either.
"We are thrilled to welcome a [high]-caliber Towson University program to our Conference this upcoming fall season," said MARC Director Dan Yarusso.
"After three competitive years in the Chesapeake Conference, Towson is looking forward to the opportunity to compete in the MARC in 2019," said Towson Head Coach Tony De Cesare. "Due to the proximity and similarity of the other schools in the conference, we feel it is the best fit for our program right now. We have played friendly matches against most of the programs over the last few years and we are really excited to join such a sound organization."
"Towson will be a good fit for the MARC given their level of play and their location to the other MARC D1AA teams," added MARC D1AA Coordinator, John Sciotto.
