Stats on Eagle Games So Far
Some fun stats from the first two USA Pacific Nations Cup games.
All of these stats are compiled by Goff Rugby Report staff, so they may differ from others’ measurements.
Tacklers
John Quill made 15 tackles without missing one against Samoa. No player, even those who played two games, got 15. Phil Thiel made 12 tackles without a miss against Samoa, and added one more against Japan as a sub to total 13. Danny Barrett totaled 13 in the two games,
On the other end of the spectrum, several players struggled to make their tackles against Samoa. Greg Peterson, Eric Fry, Shalom Suniula, and Titi Lamositele combined for a total 12 tackles and 13 misses.
Overall the tackle was better against Japan (as you might expect), but Lamositele struggled again (he’s tackling about about a 50% rate), and Thretton Palamo, who was perfect in seven tackles against Samoa, was also 50%.

Runners
Your biggest meters gainers are AJ MacGinty and Taku Ngwenya. MacGinty ran 14 times for 104 meters against Samoa and 11 times for 29 against Japan for a total of 133. Ngwenya’s two-game totals are 9 runs for 114 meters. Interestingly, Scott LaValla, who doesn’t usually run the ball much for the Eagles, ran it 11 times against Japan for 59 meters. Danny Barrett ran 14 times for 99 meters in two games, while Chris Wyles was 14 for 95.
Impact subs
In terms of tackles made, or other activity, Mike Petri made 20 meters as a sub against Samoa. Al McFarland made four tackles without a miss and one run for six meters. Lou Stanfill made three tackles without a miss.
