Statement Shutout Win for Fairfield Prep
Fairfield Prep make a bit of a statement this weekend with a shutout win over New Jersey's Morris club.
Rob Murphy scored 18 points on two tries and four conversions, while Anthony Dorsi and Rob Murphy also picked up a brace as Fairfield won 57-0.
Mike Silk scored off the opening kickoff off a nice setup from Conor Fitzsimons. The first three tries were scored by the three members of the Fairfield front row—Silk, Phil Brady, and Fitzsimons on a quick tap.
The halfback combination of Liam O'Hara and Emmett Derby organized the offense well and communicated well. Murphy was strong at flanker over and above the points her scored.
Newcomer Anthony Dorsi scored his two tries in only about 15 minutes of play as he added some spark when he came on the field.
"The boys played well offensively in our first outing, and did a nice job of mixing some newcomers into our lineup," said Fairfield Head Coach Kevin Kery. "I was proud of our senior leaders and captains who’ve been pushing this group since before the new year. We feel better about our first few weeks of practice and first game this year than last year, even though we have a long way to go in all aspects of the game. But, the boys know that and are willing and anxious to get back to work."
