The Footybills battled for the Missouri State Championship vs. the KC Jr. Blues at Gans Creek Park in Columbia, Missouri this weekend.
The Kansas City Junior Blues edged St. Louis University High by a slim margin, taking the Missouri state final 15-14 Saturday in a dynamic game that had fans on the edge of their seats.
The first half drew to a close with SLUH leading at a halftime by a score of 7 to 5, setting the stage for an intense second half.
The Jr. Blues took the lead on a long line break from their dynamic center Lance Nauer early in the second half. But SLUH bounced right back as Nathan Gunn propelled the Footybills through the Jr. Blues' defense, scoring a try that put SLUH ahead 14 to 10.
But the Blues pushed over a try in the corner through Charlie Bauer with five minutes left to take a 15-14 lead.
