Saint Mary's Hosts Arizona State
The major college schedule gets an early jump Friday when Arizona State visits Saint Mary's.
Both teams have been getting some early work in. ASU has been in a winter camp that has included a few days in Moraga, Calif. preparing for the game Friday.
“Our programs have mutual respect for each other and thought it would be a fun idea to use the time before our respective schools start to work together,” Arizona State Head Coach Gary Lane told D1A Rugby's Alex Solomon. “The purpose is to give each team quality opposition.”
Saint Mary's, as had been their habit for some years, has been active through the fall and into the winter, logging impressive scores against Chico State, UC Santa Cruz, UC Davis, the Santa Monica men's club, SoCal Griffins men, and Diablo men's club.
Most impressive would have to be the 41-22 defeat of Santa Monica, and the 52-0 shutout of the two-time defending national DIAA champs UC Davis.
This game this afternoon, however, is a tougher ask.
The game will be live streamed - kicking off at 2:35pm Pacific Time today, Friday.
